Background
Honu Group, Inc. is a company which through strategic planning, site assessment and selection, leasing and merchandising of tenants, design development, financing, community and public relations, conceptualizes, develops and integrates each of these component into a cohesive real estate project. Their most recent development was at 2100 Kalakaua Avenue, a new 2.5 acre commercial development site acquired by the group. Providing individual townhouse addresses for the flagship stores of the upscale retailers, Tiffany and Co., Gucci, Yves St. Laurent, Chanel, Tods and Boucheron, it is poised to become the new signature location for global specialty businesses and lifestyle retailers.
Services Provided
PMCI coordinated and implemented the grand opening of the 2100 Kalakaua Avenue stores for the Honu Group on December 6, 2003. Due to the grand scale of the event, the project required extensive meetings with all concerned, in-depth communication with Honu, and hands-on management of the event. A total of 1,500 invited guests were present, with an additional 1000 residents and visitors in attendance for the entertainment portion of the program. PMCIs responsibilities included:
- Obtaining appropriate permits from the Department of Transportation, and coordination with the City and County of Honolulu for street closures and traffic re-routing.
- Working with the Hale Koa Hotel, the Cab, the Trolley and a private parking company in order to coordinate the necessary parking for the event.
- Creating a security plan with a private security company and the Honolulu Police Department.
- Selection of the caterers for the event in order to ensure quality of menu, service and price for Honu.
- Establishing the program of events: the La Pietra Choir, Kenny Endo Taiko, the Honolulu Symphony brass ensemble and string quartet, Kumu John Lake and Halau, and Al Greene.
- Implementation of all components the night of the event; coordination of the florist for the stage and site decoration, delivery of food and drinks for each individual store, each with a different caterer, managing the entertainers, and working with the staff of the construction management crew and shopping center management.
